After a difficult 12 months for the Toombul community, Mirvac is continuing to move ahead with its Toombul renewal program. The centre has been closed since February 2022, due to extreme flood damage.
This week, Mirvac lodged a Development Application (DA) with Brisbane City Council to seek permission to demolish buildings and structures at the former Toombul site, as planning for the future of the site continues.
“While we are continuing to develop our future plans, the demolition of the onsite buildings and structures is an important and necessary step for the future of the site,” said Mirvac’s spokesperson.
“We look forward to sharing future planning concepts when these are available. A new master plan for the site is likely to be available for community review by the end of 2023.
“While demolition works are ongoing, local roads, bikeways and footpaths, including the Kedron Brook bikeway will remain open. The Toombul bus interchange and park and ride will also remain open throughout demolition.
“We will provide regular updates as the demolition DA progresses and will inform residents in advance of the start of works.”
Subject to approvals, demolition is likely to commence later this year and will take approximately 12 months to complete, depending on progress and weather conditions.
