Chadstone has officially unveiled its latest headline cultural activation in partnership with internationally renowned Australian-born, New York-based artist Cj Hendry, whose large-scale exhibition titled Lost & Found  is now live across the centre.

Having launched on Thursday 19 June, Lost & Found marks Hendry’s first Australian exhibition in four years and transforms Chadstone into an immersive, multi-site art experience blending hyperrealism, interactivity and bold design. The activation reaffirms Chadstone’s position as a leader in integrating culture and commerce to deliver high-impact placemaking outcomes.

“I’m so excited to be bringing an exhibition to Australia after so many years – it’s a place that has always fueled my creativity and inspired my work. Art should be for everyone, and I love pushing the boundaries to make it more engaging in fresh and unexpected ways. Partnering with Chadstone to bring this vision to life has been a dream come true. It’s all about breaking down barriers, inviting people into the world of art, and letting them curate pieces that truly speak to them,” said Cj Hendry.

The exhibition spans three key locations within the centre, including The Maze, a colourful, large-scale padlock labyrinth located outside Target; The Vault, a luxury installation showcasing Hendry’s new original artworks and exclusive merchandise in the Luxury Mall; and the Ah-MAZE-ing School Holiday Program precinct outside David Jones, offering creative workshops and a striking inflatable maze for younger audiences.

Hendry’s signature mix of hyper-detailed artistry, playfulness, and large-format installations has attracted a cult following globally. Her return to home soil continues to generate buzz and foot traffic, following the success of recent exhibitions in New York and Miami that drew enormous crowds and widespread media attention.

“Cj Hendry’s art is bold, thought-provoking, and impossible to ignore,” said Chadstone Centre Manager Daniel Boyle. “At Chadstone, we’re always looking for ways to merge culture, creativity, and entertainment, and this collaboration is a perfect example of that.”

With more than 20 million annual visitors, Chadstone’s partnership with Hendry exemplifies a forward-thinking approach to retail development — one that places experiential activations and cultural moments at the core of the visitor experience. The installation has already attracted strong visitation and social media engagement, inviting guests to “get lost” in a whimsical world of colour, curiosity and creativity.

By dispersing the exhibition across three well-trafficked zones, Chadstone has successfully activated multiple touchpoints throughout the centre, driving movement and dwell time while delivering a shareable, high-energy experience that aligns with Hendry’s unconventional, crowd-driven practice.

The activation will run alongside Chadstone’s school holiday programming through to 20 July, reinforcing the centre’s role as a dynamic lifestyle destination that bridges art, retail and entertainment.
