Construction has started on Stockland Providence, a new retail town centre in the heart of the Providence masterplanned community in Ripley Valley, one of Queensland’s fastest-growing suburbs.

Spanning more than 8,000m2, the town centre will be anchored by a 3,800m2 full-line Coles supermarket and will feature a 140-person childcare centre operated by Green Leaves Early Learning Centres, a gym, and about 21 specialty stores, including a variety of food and dining options. The centre will also feature more than 400 parking spaces, including 100 shaded bays.

Stockland Providence town centre will also include a vibrant main street, which is expected to become a key focal point for the community and a place to host future markets, small festivals, and other local events.

Stockland has appointed to deliver Stage 1, which will target a 5 Star Green Star Rating

Stockland Providence Project Director David Franklin said it’s an exciting time for Stockland’s retail business, with a focus on creating opportunities in our ‘own backyard’ to meet the needs of Stockland residential communities like Providence.

“The Providence community recently celebrated its tenth year and, with more than 4,000 residents calling Providence home, we know the curated mix of local retailers and businesses will provide a convenient place for people to pick up daily essentials,” Franklin said.

Federal Member for Blair, the Hon. Shayne Neumann MP attended the sod-turn event and reinforced the importance of this town centre in delivering essential services to the growing Providence community.

“Today’s milestone is a sign that Providence has come of age with the retail town centre certain to be a vibrant hub and the centre of the rapidly growing western corridor,” Neumann said.

“The Ripley Valley Priority Development Area is one of the fastest growing areas in South East Queensland and the construction of the retail town centre is an exciting development for the entire community.”

Member for Bundamba Lance McCallum said it is great to see work starting on the Providence town centre.

“The new town centre will bring essential services and retail closer to home for our rapidly growing community, and that means less time driving to the shops and more time with family,” McCallum said.

Mayor of Ipswich Teresa Harding said with Ipswich being one of Australia’s fastest growing Local Government Areas, it was encouraging to see additional infrastructure and a central hub for the community to congregate and connect with neighbours.

“Ripley and South Ripley are among the fastest growing suburbs in Ipswich, with Ipswich being one of Australia’s fastest growing cities. This town centre is an important part of ensuring our newest families have easy access to services, business and facilities,” Harding said.

“Having a vibrant town centre here in Ripley will support our rapidly growing community ensuring Ipswich remains a great place to call home and to work.”

Stockland Providence is expected to open for trade in mid-2026. Stockland has appointed Badge Constructions to deliver Stage 1, which will target a 5 Star Green Star Rating from the Green Building Council of Australia.
