Golden Age Group has opened its $360 million mixed-use precinct, Sky SQR, an operational residential, commercial, and retail hub.
City of Whitehorse Mayor Cr Kirsten Langford joined Golden Age Group executives and local community members to celebrate the opening, coinciding with the two-day Mid-Autumn Festival.
The weekend event featured traditional cultural showcases and family entertainment, including lion dancing, Hanfu displays, Sichuan face-changing performances, live music, and interactive workshops such as calligraphy and lacquer fan making.
The project adds significant retail and food services to the Box Hill commercial area. Eateries currently operating and slated to open in upcoming stages include Panda Hot Pot, Kasumi Wagyu House, Chan’s Dessert, MQS Secret Kitchen, Yunmi Chicken and Nong Geng Ji Chinese Restaurant.
The precinct will also house retail, health, beauty, and entertainment tenants.
Golden Age Group MD Jeff Xu said that the development builds on the company’s decade-long investment in Box Hill, which previously included the Sky One project.
“Our vision has always been to create a place that serves the local community every day, bringing together housing, workplaces, retail, dining and essential services in one connected precinct,” Xu added.
“Box Hill is one of Whitehorse’s most vibrant and diverse centres, and it was wonderful to see so many people come together to celebrate the opening of Sky SQR and the Mid-Autumn Festival.”
“New places that bring together local businesses, residents, food, culture and community activity contribute to the vitality of Box Hill. I was delighted to join the community in celebrating this important new addition to the precinct,” said Langford.
