Melbourne’s Parkmore has signed with new retailers and unveiled refurbishments of existing tenancies as the shopping centre marks a new era of growth and transformation.
The centre will welcome Australia’s largest sporting retailer, Rebel Sport in the fourth quarter of next year as part of the next chapter.
Supermarket chain Aldi has also confirmed to open late next year, with more international and local retailers to be announced soon.
Over the past year, Parkmore has seen a pipeline of new retailers, including Seoul Bibimgo, Skin Kandy, Palmero Perfume, Bodero, Bee Keen Café, General Games, Precise Radiology, and Elite Supplements. Starkids is also set to open soon.
In May, Kmart, one of the centre’s longest-standing retailers, saw a major refurbishment, introducing a modern layout, centralised checkouts, select-and-collect kiosks and direct-to-boot services.
Red Balloon Café was refreshed at the same time, reaffirming its place as a much-loved community meeting spot.
“Parkmore has always been a strong community destination, and it’s exciting to see heritage aired with record results and significant new investment,” said centre manager Jo Bush.
“The refurbishments highlight our long-standing retailer partnerships, while our new openings bring fresh variety that customers are responding to.”
Parkmore opened in the eastern suburbs of Melbourne in November 1973. The centre houses major stores such as Big W, Best & Less, Coles, Kmart, and Woolworths, along with approximately 120 specialty stores.
The centre has recorded its strongest year yet, with $320 million in sales and more than 7.5 million customer visits. It now ranks second in Melbourne and in the top 10 nationally in the ‘Little Guns’ category for Australia’s best performing mid-sized shopping centres.
