Glass House Mountains travel centre has opened on one of Queensland’s highway corridors, completing a $24 million fuel and convenience redevelopment.

The project was delivered by Dexus Convenience Retail REIT (DXC) and Queensland-based De Luca Corporation.

Located on the Bruce Highway between Brisbane and the Sunshine Coast, where it is exposed to 150,000 daily commuters, the centre represents a key milestone in DXC’s active portfolio management strategy as a modern, fully pre-leased asset with a diversified income profile.

The full tenant rollout, already featuring McDonald’s, KFC and Guzman y Gomez, will be completed later this month with the openings of a Shell service station, OTR convenience store and a Hungry Jack’s. Pat De Maria, DXC’s fund manager, noted that some 43 per cent of the income is derived from such quick-service restaurants.

“Glass House Mountains is precisely the kind of highway-centric, full-service asset that positions DXC well for the future. We’re proud to have delivered it.”

He said the Glass House Mountains Northbound site marks a milestone not just for Dexus, but for the thousands of travellers, commuters and residents who will benefit from the facility every day.

Its premium offering also incorporates a suite of sustainability initiatives, including expanded EV charging facilities, rooftop solar, rainwater harvesting and greywater reuse.

“Seeing Glass House Mountains complete is extremely satisfying,” added Nic De Luca, MD of De Luca Corporation.

“We set out to create a state-of-the-art travel centre that meets the needs of today’s traveller, from premium fuel and convenience to great food choices and EV infrastructure.”

Dexus stated that the Southbound site remains operational, with plans for its future enhancement underway.
