Glendale City Centre has partnered with Resourceful Living to recycle plastic waste and reduce the volume sent to landfill.
The agreement marks Resourceful Living’s first partnership with a shopping centre and is expected to divert hundreds of kilograms of plastic each month. Resourceful Living recycles post-consumer plastic into products including coffee tables, bin lids and signage.
Since the program began in June, the partnership has diverted 1400kg of plastic. The two organisations aim to process an average of 780kg per quarter going forward, equivalent to approximately 3.1 tonnes of plastic diverted from landfill each year. The outcome contributes to waste reduction at Glendale City Centre and across the Hunter region.
Sarah Crichton, centre manager at Glendale City Centre, said the centre was working with Resourceful Living as part of its waste-management approach.
“We are excited for our customers to participate in January’s activities at the Centre, which showcase the capabilities of this partnership,” she said.
Jess Hodge, MD of Resourceful Living Group, said the partnership showed how businesses can take responsibility for their waste and convert it into usable materials.
“Every sheet we make from this plastic tells a story of change. Less landfill, more impact. We’re proud to be part of that shift,” she added.
The centre also ran customer activities and giveaways in January, including serving boards for eligible shoppers.
