Western Health delivers Australia’s first drive-through COVID-19 vaccination hub at QICGRE’s Woodgrove Shopping Centre, making a vital service as accessible, safe and convenient as possible for the residents of western Melbourne.

With the aim of administering 10,000 vaccine doses per week through car windows, this new-style vaccination clinic established on a repurposed Bunnings site highlights the commitment of the retail industry to accelerating Australia’s COVID-19 recovery.

QICGRE’s General Manager of Shopping Centre Management, Stephen Dewaele: “We are very proud to have been able to support Western Health’s delivery of Australia’s first drive-through COVID-19 vaccination hub at Woodgrove Shopping Centre, making a vital service as accessible, safe, and convenient as possible for the residents of western Melbourne,” Dewaele said.

“As managers of one of Australia’s largest retail portfolios, we recognise the privilege we have in supporting this recovery and, alongside our ongoing work with local authorities to provide space for COVID-19 testing sites, we look forward to further expanding our support of the vaccine rollout in consultation with health officials.”

The Western Health clinic will begin with the Pfizer vaccine, and eligibility will be the same as at any clinic or doctor’s office in Victoria. The doses will be administered to cars parked in two bays, six at a time. As the process proves safe and effective, more bays will open up and the hope is that the model can be rolled out elsewhere in the state and country.

A new mass vaccination hub will accompany the drive-through site inside the warehouse itself, allowing people to book and walk inside the building as they would at any other state clinic.

Appointments can be booked through Victoria’s Department of Health.
