Chadstone celebrates the grand opening of The Market Pavilion – a world-class food and lifestyle destination designed to be the beating heart of Melbourne’s epicurean spirit.

With an investment of $485 million, the highly anticipated fresh food and dining precinct delivers an unparalleled marketplace experience for food lovers and retailers alike.

Located at Australia’s premier shopping and lifestyle destination, The Market Pavilion spans 26,500m2 and is home to more than 50 market-leading retailers, celebrating the finest in fresh produce, gourmet ingredients, and artisan delights.

From renowned providores to specialty grocers, local culinary artisans, premium restaurants, and home decor and lifestyle boutiques, The Market Pavilion brings together the best of Melbourne’s thriving food and lifestyle scene under Chadstone’s iconic Gridshell Roof.

In true Chadstone style, the Grand Opening of The Market Pavilion on Thursday March 27th saw the precinct erupt into lively festivities and retailer giveaways that celebrated the tastes of The Market Pavilion and the ultimate pantry, from the everyday to the gourmet.

Daniel Boyle, Chadstone Centre Manager, celebrates Chadstone’s commitment to premium consumer experiences that extend beyond fashion and into a one-stop destination for shopping, dining and entertainment needs.

“With the opening of The Market Pavilion, we are redefining the way Melburnians experience food. This precinct is a celebration of quality, craftsmanship, and the rich food culture that makes our city unique,” said Boyle.

The Market Pavilion represents the next chapter in Chadstone’s commitment to innovation and excellence. Visitors can expect an immersive food experience, from exclusive tastings and masterclasses to pop-up collaborations with some of the country’s most exciting chefs and producers.

Adjoining The Market Pavilion, Chadstone will also unveil a re-energised Dining Laneway offering casual all-day dining and a broad range of cuisines. Dine-in and takeaway will be available from 11 outlets including PappaRich, Thai Social, Shanghai Red, Kaiten Sushi Train, Yo-Chi, and more. The Market Pavilion enhances its market atmosphere with a suite of home decor and lifestyle retailers and welcomes Chadstone-first retailer Readings, along with Hommey, Flowers Vasette, and House.

Chadstone enhances its premium services with The Market Pavilion’s Food Concierge. This complimentary service allows shoppers to store fresh produce for refrigeration while they continue their visit, collecting it upon departure. Pre-bookable curbside pickup is also available via Car Park C.

Tech driven, personalised shopper experiences will also be available for The Market Pavilion patrons, with the introduction of the precinct’s AI recipe tool.

The Market Pavilion has been delivered in collaboration with architects, Woods Bagot and Buchan, and builder, John Holland. 710 jobs have been created during the construction of The Market Pavilion and 635 ongoing jobs were created upon opening.

The Market Pavilion has been designed to meet a 5-Star Green Star rating and net-zero operational emissions supported by natural ventilation louvres, a dedicated Waste Management Plan, and Solar PV System utilisation. The use of solar power harvested on-site at Chadstone, a dedicated waste management plan, and a target of net-zero operational emissions have contributed to minimising the precinct’s environmental footprint.
