Sushi Jiro in Westfield Chermside is now home to the Southern Hemisphere’s largest sushi train, spanning approximately 115 metres, and accommodating 171 guests. This news comes after the Japanese restaurant brand unveiled the world’s first circular sushi train, spanning 30.6 metres, in December last year at Melbourne’s Westfield Doncaster.

In its first venture interstate, Australia’s fastest growing Japanese quick service restaurant has expanded its national presence, opening in Brisbane at Westfield Chermside, and on the Gold Coast at Pacific Fair Shopping Centre. These prime locations were chosen by Sushi Jiro due to their vibrant shopping culture.

In less than two years since acquiring Sushi Jiro, CEO Anna Kasman has almost doubled the business’s sushi train footprint in Australia, catering to the nation’s love for sushi and signalling the brand’s continued dedication to pushing the boundaries of venue experiences.

“The demand for high-quality Japanese cuisine in a casual, down to earth environment is evident, and diners are seeking experiences that are new and exciting. We aim to fill that niche with everything Sushi Jiro does, offering unique dining experiences each and every time.

“The journey to creating Australia’s longest sushi train was as thrilling as it was challenging. We faced many hurdles with our original design, but through determination and innovative thinking, we overcame obstacles and crafted a dining spectacle that’s truly one-of-a-kind,” said Kasman.

Designed to enhance the customer experience, both Chermside and Pacific Fair restaurants offer an immersive journey from the moment guests step in.

“Both restaurants were designed with the customer journey front of mind, from the ambience of our interior design to the interactive nature of our sushi train. We’ve incorporated elements that not only streamline the dining process but also create an immersive experience that connects our guests with traditional and modern sushi making,” Kasman explained.

While highlighting traditional Japanese favourites, Sushi Jiro also delights guests with surprising dishes like the Nori Taco, blending traditional Japanese flavours with a unique presentation not previously seen in the QSR space.

Looking ahead, Sushi Jiro aims to keep the sushi train rolling, adding value to the Australian culinary landscape with its contemporary Japanese dining experiences.

“We’re exploring opportunities to bring Sushi Jiro restaurants to more locations across Australia. Our goal is to continuously improve and innovate upon our elevated sushi train experience with each new store opening,” said Kasman.

Sushi Jiro’s new Queensland stores are open seven days a week and located within Westfield Chermside and Pacific Fair Shopping Centre.
