Stockland has opened a $95 million town shopping centre in the heart of The Gables community in northwest Sydney.

Located at 4 Lakefront Crescent, Stockland Gables town centre has a gross lettable area of 9400sqm and is fully leased with around 30 retailers and services.

The property is anchored by a full-line Woolworths supermarket, alongside a childcare centre, a medical centre and pharmacy, a gym, specialty shops, and food and dining options. There will also be a function centre and adjoining restaurant overlooking a future lake.

The centre is the latest completed development in Stockland’s strategy to develop, own and manage neighbourhood town centres at its masterplanned communities.

“We are focused on building essentials-based town centres within our masterplanned communities to drive liveability and make it easier for our residents to do their groceries, have a coffee or go to the gym,” said Marco Ettorre, Stockland executive GM, town centres.

“The Gables is a vibrant and well-connected community, and one that showcases the value of Stockland’s diversified business – with Halcyon Gables, our first over-60s land lease community in NSW, and now Stockland Gables, within easy reach for our residents.”

Stockland Gables is targeting a 5-star Green Star rating and includes a 500 kWp solar installation with battery storage. The centre has also achieved a reduction in embodied carbon of more than 30 per cent by using reduced carbon concrete and reinforcing steel.

During its construction, the project generated more than 500 direct and indirect jobs. It is expected to create direct and indirect jobs to around 600 people after opening.

Construction of town centres is underway at two other Stockland communities – Providence in Queensland and Sienna Wood in Western Australia – both of which will open next year.
