Construction is underway on a new three-court basketball stadium at Forest Hill Chase, transforming the Melbourne retail centre into a combined sports and shopping destination.

The project is being developed by the centre’s owners, Haben and JY Group, in partnership with Nunawading Basketball and Basketball Victoria.

It will become the new home of the Nunawading Basketball community and the Spectres team.

The stadium will include training areas and a tournament-standard court integrated within a retail environment.

Harold Finger, principal and co-founder of Haben, said the development reflects how shopping centres are evolving to meet changing community needs.

“This project combines sport and retail in a way that creates a more dynamic and engaging environment,” he said. “It’s about broadening the role of centres like Forest Hill Chase to serve local residents better.”

Completion of the sports stadium is expected mid-next year.
