Lendlease’s Sunshine Plaza has received development application approval for a high ropes adventure course as part of its $420 million redevelopment.

By mid-2019, Sunshine Plaza will be home to the first outdoor high ropes course at a major regional shopping centre in the country and the world’s largest ropes course on poles. It will include a 22-metre-high viewing deck, 150 challenges and 16 zip lines, with the longest one at 130 metres across Cornmeal Creek.

Adventure high ropes specialist, Trees Adventure will design and operate the high ropes course, providing 1, 2 or 3-hour experiences. The courses cater for ages 6 and up, with a broad range of activities and challenges.

“Once the attraction is built, Sunshine Plaza will be home to the world’s largest ropes course on poles. With something for every level of fitness, our course will allow everyone to experience a unique, world first attraction on the beautiful Sunshine Coast. We’ll also be offering pre-booked drop-off sessions for kids, so parents can shop while the kids are challenging themselves away from screens.”, said Nicolas Dansin, Trees Adventure Managing Director.

Locals and tourist who want to spend a day out at Sunshine Plaza will enjoy the very best retail mix as well as world-class experiences.

“The future of retail will not just be about shopping, we must be innovative and offer customers a range of experiences in one great place. The high ropes course will add another dimension to the new Cornmeal Creek casual dining and entertainment precinct, ensuring Sunshine Plaza remains a must-visit destination among locals and tourists alike.”, said Lendlease Managing Director of Retail, Gary Horwitz.

On completion of the redevelopment, customers can enjoy the new super-regional shopping centre with the region’s first David Jones, H&M, a new Big W, Cornmeal Promenade dining precinct and over 100 additional specialty stores.
