Australia’s premium outlet shopping centres, Harbour Town Premium Outlets Gold Coast and Harbour Town Premium Outlets Adelaide, are both celebrating a record-breaking Boxing Day event, reaching unprecedented traffic results and both centres achieving their most successful Boxing Day in history.

Both centres reported growth in foot traffic compared to previous years, with Harbour Town Gold Coast welcoming more than 94,000 visitors during the Boxing Day period, beating the previous record by 18%, while Harbour Town Adelaide also saw a positive increase, attracting tens of thousands of bargain hunters.

The increase in performance extended beyond Boxing Day, with total December sales increasing across key retail categories, including apparel, homewares, and footwear.

Harbour Town Gold Coast reported a year-on-year sales increase of +11%, while Harbour Town Adelaide recorded a +4% rise in sales compared to December 2023.

Meredith Hayes, Head of Retail at Lewis Land, highlighted the importance of strategic planning and collaboration with retailers in achieving these outcomes.

“We’re thrilled to see such outstanding performance across both centres. Our focus on delivering an exceptional shopping experience, unique offers, and an early start to our marketing campaigns has clearly resonated with customers. These results reflect the strength of our retail partnerships and our ongoing commitment to delivering value and quality for shoppers,” said Hayes.

Lewis Land’s Group Marketing Manager Tanya Demaria credited the success to data-driven marketing initiatives and a customer-first approach.

“Our record-breaking Boxing Day and December results are also a testament to the collaboration between our team and retailers, fostering best-in-class partnerships that drove exceptional outcomes across the board. Many of our retailers achieved their strongest performance portfolio-wide, reflecting the impact of our collective efforts,” said Demaria.
