Enex has officially opened its doors as Perth’s first urban-commercial village following a $40 million transformation.

Owned by ISPT, the landmark CBD redevelopment has been defined by two new distinct spaces — a City Canteen and Central Lounge. The spaces have been designed to blend retail and functional amenity to create a mixed-use area with the capacity to seat more than 400 people and deliver a one-of-a-kind CBD experience.

The City Canteen is home to seven food and beverage venues, including Soul Origin, Hi Thai, CP Curry House, Sushia and Mi Shanghai to create a vibrant lunchtime dining precinct.

Inviting hungry customers in through Hay Street Mall, the City Canteen defines the energy of the new urban-commercial village, reconnecting the retail mall with the city’s core business strip through the building’s new light-filled glass façade on St Georges Terrace.

Complementing the City Canteen’s vibrant energy is the epicentre of Perth’s urban-commercial village, the Central Lounge, which acts as a conduit to seamlessly connect Enex’s premium retail space with the City Canteen. The Central Lounge will provide a breakout space for the people of Perth to relax and connect through an abundance of casual seating.

To officially launch Perth’s first urban-commercial village, Enex hosted its new era celebrations on July 3-4, with a range of experiences and sweet deals for customers to enjoy, including Free coffee for all customers on July 3 at Soul Origin, pop-up giveaway stations with over $30,000 in prizes and the chance to win free lunch for a year at Enex.

One of Perth’s most prestigious and connected business addresses, the transformed Enex precinct reimagines the balance between leisure and work experiences in Perth, blending hospitality, premium fashion, convenience retail and office spaces all under one roof, with over 30 retailers including Woolworths, Gorman, Aesop and Decjuba.

Sam Curry, Head of Portfolio (Retail) at ISPT said that the opening of Perth’s first urban-commercial village marks a new era for the Perth CBD.

“We are thrilled to unveil the new Enex experience, which has been transformed to deliver Perth’s first urban-commercial village. This $40 million injection into revitalising Perth’s CBD aims to cater to the wants and needs of office workers and leisure visitors, with contemporary modern amenity and a curated retail mix of premium fashion and convenience.

“Through this significant transformation we hope to encourage visitation into Perth CBD, inviting visitors to linger longer within two captivating spaces — our City Canteen and Central Lounge — providing a mixed-use space that reimagines the balance between work and life.

As part of the redevelopment, the adjoining A Grade office tower at 100 St Georges Terrace also underwent refurbishment to seamlessly connect the tower with Enex through a new lobby lift, providing direct access to those residing in the building.

Designed by Woods Bagot, works to deliver Perth’s first urban-commercial village commenced in late 2023, with the 18-month project completed by ADCO Construction.

ISPT’s investment in the redevelopment of Enex follows the successful completion of the Forrest Chase redevelopment in 2019, highlighting the company’s ongoing commitment to repositioning its assets in the Perth CBD.
