Campbelltown’s Macarthur Square has outlined a food-led expansion plan as part of its ongoing development, following a wave of retail and dining openings last year in response to continued population growth and urban expansion in South Western Sydney.

As the region continues to develop, Campbelltown is moving beyond short “shop-and-go” visits towards places where local communities can dine, gather and spend more time. This shift is contributing to the area’s role as a centre for employment and lifestyle activity.

At Macarthur Square, the introduction of first-to-market brands, experience-led store formats and an expanded food offering reflects changes in consumer behaviour and how local customers allocate their time.

“The level of interest we’ve seen from both national and emerging brands is testament to the strength and growth of the Macarthur region,” said Jacqui Bell, centre manager at Macarthur Square.

“Customers are looking for precincts that bring together retail, dining and experiences. Our 2025 openings, along with what’s coming in 2026, are a direct response to how people want to spend their time locally.”

Openings during the year include Ringers Western’s first metropolitan-format store, alongside lifestyle, beauty and service operators such as Oz Hair and Beauty, Morie Candles, Never Miss, Dangerfield, Leays, Citrin, Ugg Express and Asuria Disability Services.

The centre has also expanded its food offering with new openings including Spanian’s Kebabs, Miguelito’s Diner, Iggy’s Frozen Bar and Hong Kong Chef, as well as fresh food retailers Brooklyn Fine Meats and Cinnascroll. These additions reflect the diversity of the Macarthur community and the presence of food brands attracting both locals and visitors.

Key retailers have also invested in expanded store formats. Rebel Sport introduced its Rebel RCX format, increasing its footprint from 1700sqm to more than 2200sqm. Novo, Universal Store and Sheike expanded their stores, while Tarocash and Dusk launched stores with new brand fit-outs.

Building on these developments, Macarthur Square is scheduled to introduce additional food offerings this year, supporting the region’s night-time and family-friendly economy.
