Tipalea Partners has released a revised design for its $60 million Stony Rise Village shopping centre in Devonport, with construction expected to commence in March.

The 6300sqm neighbourhood centre, located next to the Harvey Norman Homemaker Centre at Stony Rise, is 60 per cent pre-leased and is forecast to be completed by mid-next year.

Woolworths will anchor the development with a 4000sqm supermarket, the largest in Tasmania’s north-west, including 400sqm allocated to online fulfilment for Click & Collect and Direct to Boot services.

Tipalea said the redesign places a stronger emphasis on the consumer experience while retaining the original retail footprint and incorporating modern amenities, public art and bold architectural elements.

“We have a large footprint to play with, but ultimately it works best to keep the shops closer together,” said Scott Spanton, CEO of Tipalea Partners.

“It will create a ‘high street feel’ for shoppers, and the car park will be easier to navigate as a result. This redesign minimises the impact of shopping centre essentials, like loading areas, that shoppers don’t want to see.”

Confirmed tenants include The Chemist, BWS Liquor, The Coffee Club, a bakery, Loaded Laundry, a newsagent and a nail salon, with additional food and service operators in negotiation.

The centre will feature EV charging, solar power, CCTV and upgraded parking provision, and is expected to support more than 1200 jobs during construction and ongoing operations.
