Macquarie Centre’s Ice Rink has reopened, backed by multimillion-dollar investment, strengthening the centre’s position as a full-day destination.

The seven-month upgrade, marking a milestone for the centre and the Sydney community, brings back the rink as a uniquely local institution after over four decades.

In line with the centre’s commitment to delivering and diversifying its recreational and entertainment services, the revitalised rink’s return coincided with the festive season and school holidays.

The transformation and enhancement of the rink include new ice-making technology, upgraded lighting and sound, improved seating, and border environmental initiatives focused on energy and sustainability efficiency.

As part of Macquarie’s goal to serve the local community, the rink is expected to host school programs, club training, competitions, and seasonal activities, while serving as a precinct offering retail, dining, and entertainment options.

Renzo Münster, executive GM of Macquarie Ice Rink, described the renovation as ‘the revival of an Australian icon’.

“Generations have grown up on this ice, and this transformation ensures the magic continues.”

Macquarie Centre is located at Herring Road and Waterloo Road, Macquarie Park, NSW, and is open daily.

“This transformation reflects our commitment to offering experiences that go beyond traditional retail, creating memorable moments for families, young people, and ice sports fans alike,” said Chris Seller, GM of Macquarie Centre.
