The Shopping Centre Council of Australia (SCCA) is encouraging the industry to nominate emerging leaders for the 2026 Frank Lowy Fellowship.
With support from Scentre Group, the initiative is entering its 10th year of recognising individuals who demonstrate excellence, leadership, innovation and a commitment to the continued development of Australia’s shopping centre industry.
Elliott Rusanow, SCCA chairman and Scentre Group CEO, said: “The Australian shopping centre industry is fortunate to have an enormous depth of talent, from centre management and operations through to development, technology, sustainability, marketing and customer experience.
“Scentre Group is proud to support the Fellowship and its focus on developing the next generation of industry leaders.”
Shelly Norgard, retail manager at Mirvac, received last year’s Frank Lowy Fellowship. She was recognised for pioneering Australia’s first shopping centre-hosted speed interview recruitment program, helping retailers address staffing shortages while delivering a 93 per cent employment success rate and a 100 per cent retailer return rate.
“Shelly’s work is a great example of the impact individuals can have when they identify a challenge, think differently and develop a practical solution that delivers results for retailers and the broader industry,” said Angus Nardi, CEO of SCCA, as he encouraged CEOs and senior executives to nominate the next generation of industry leaders for 2026 Fellowship.
This year’s recipient will receive funding of up to $20,000 to undertake a professional development opportunity, educational pursuit, or industry event of their choice.
The Fellowship is open to Australian residents employed by a company that owns, manages and/or develops shopping centres in Australia. Nominees will be asked to demonstrate excellence in their field, highlight their attributes as future leaders, and consider the next phase of change in the shopping centre industry.
All nominees will be formally recognised and celebrated at the 2026 Frank Lowy Fellowship Award Ceremony on Thursday, November 26. Judges for this year’s Fellowship include SCCA chairman Elliott Rusanow; Ric O’Connell, Arkadia; Ramesh Subramanian, MA Financial Group; Michelle McNally, Vicinity Centres; and Kirrily Lord, Dexus.
Nominations close at 5pm on Monday, October 12.
