Tipalea Partners has delivered the $60 million Spring Farm Village in Kingston, Hobart, marking the first new shopping centre in the Kingborough region for over 15 years.
Leases were brokered by Lewis Torkington and Ashleigh Wearne of ATD Property, and Tipalea’s Graeme Wakefield.
The project, designed by i2C Architects, is considered “a new standard of quality” for Hobart’s fast-growing southern corridor by expanding local retail choice and convenience.
Positioned opposite Bunnings on the Channel Highway, while anchored by the latest-generation Coles, the centre brings together 18 specialty retailers and services, along with some of Tasmania’s most renowned food outlets. Key service offerings include St Luke’s and Spring Farm Medical.
Scott Spanton, CEO of Tipalea Partners, said this is the strongest retail lineup the group has ever secured in a centre.
“The design and material selection is exceptional, and the standard of construction is of the highest order.”

Delivered on time and on budget over 15 months by Tasmanian contractor Fairbrother, the project marks the pair’s fifth collaboration in Tasmania.
Paul Ransley, GM of Fairbrother, said the result sets a new benchmark for amenity and customer experience in Southern Tasmania.
“Practical user-centric innovations such as step-free entries and high-quality parent facilities were designed to deliver long-term value for the community, made possible by a consistently strong, transparent and collaborative approach throughout delivery,” he added.
“Partnering with Tipalea once again on Spring Farm Village has been a privilege.”
Beyond its retail offering, the project supported over 1000 job opportunities during development and construction and has created more than 300 ongoing roles across Spring Farm Village’s retailers. Fairbrother also noted a significant increase in employment, with over 156,000 labour hours recorded.
As part of premium amenities, the centre offers 350 car parks with dedicated bays for parents, seniors and people with disability, plus RV parking, taxi and delivery bays, alongside EV charging stations and broader sustainability initiatives powered by smart technology. Works by Tasmanian artists are also showcased beneath the car park canopies and throughout the strip.

“We are very proud of Spring Farm Village – it is without doubt the best shopping centre we have ever created,” Spanton said.
