Scentre Group has secured a strategic partnership with the National Football League (NFL), designating Westfield as the league’s shopping destination partner in ANZ.
The collaboration comes ahead of the first regular-season NFL game in the Southern Hemisphere, scheduled for September 11 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground between the San Francisco 49ers and the Los Angeles Rams.
Under the agreement, Westfield will serve as the exclusive red-carpet partner for the event. The shopping centres will host live broadcasts of the game alongside free sports-themed activities and entertainment across their regional network.
The company is also launching promotional ticket giveaways for its membership program.
“We know that sport has a unique ability to bring people together, and we’re excited to partner with the NFL as it makes history with its first-ever regular-season game in Australia,” said Elliott Rusanow, Scentre Group’s CEO.
The partnership represents an effort by the NFL to expand its market presence and fan engagement outside the stadium by leveraging established local retail infrastructure.
“Strategic partnerships like this are essential to our continued growth in the market, allowing us to reach fans where they live, shop and spend time together,” said Charlotte Offord, NFL GM for ANZ.
Event details and local broadcasting schedules will be distributed through individual center platforms leading up to the September fixture.
