Tipalea Partners has begun construction of Stony Rise Village, a $60 million retail centre located in Davenport, Tasmania.
Spanning 6300sqm, the retail hub is anchored by Woolworths and will also house a national pharmacy chain’s first superstore in the region. Other specialty retailers include medical services, takeaway food, and beauty services.
Tipalea said leasing commitments for the location have already reached 70 per cent.
“It has been a journey to get to this point,” said Tipalea Partners CEO Scott Spanton.
“We have been overwhelmed by the support we have had so far from both the community, council, and state political leaders – not to mention the outstanding results from our pre-leasing campaign.”
Stony Rise Village will also include a range of non-retail amenities alongside its store mix, including EV charging stations, a weather station, wireless charging points, and free Wi-Fi.
The development will also incorporate a series of updated retail design and access features for Devonport, including a parents’ room, shaded parking, drive-through click-and-collect, upgraded security systems, and dedicated pedestrian access.
Logistics and access planning include separate truck and loading zones, along with designated bays for taxis and food delivery services.
Parking will include wider bays with double-line marking, as well as allocated spaces for elderly shoppers, parents with prams, and RVs.
Public art will also be integrated across the site.
“This new centre sends a clear message: Devonport is growing, it’s open for business, and it has confidence in its future,” said Alison Jarman, mayor of Devonport.
Stony Rise Village is expected to open mid-next year.
