Harbour Town Premium Outlets Adelaide has introduced a purpose-built Changing Places facility, marking a significant accessibility upgrade for the South Australian centre.

Located near the Parents’ Room in the central amenities block, the new facility includes a height-adjustable adult-sized change table, ceiling hoist, automatic accessible door and additional circulation space, features designed for visitors with complex needs who cannot use standard accessible toilets. Access is available via an MLAK key during trading hours.

Centre manager Kylie Neal said the installation follows ongoing feedback from customers and retailers and reflects broader expectations around inclusive retail environments.

“We have purposely allocated space to build a Changing Places facility to provide a safe, dignified and comfortable environment for all shoppers,” she said.

“We proudly continue to invest in community-focused initiatives and accessibility improvements, ensuring the centre remains a welcoming space for everyone.”

According to Neal, Harbour Town draws an estimated 3.4 million visitors annually, supported by its open-air format and proximity to Adelaide Airport. The outlet centre houses more than 110 retailers and is a major local employer, with about 1500 jobs onsite.

The upgrade aligns with the national expansion of the Changing Places initiative, which is being adopted across public venues and transport hubs with backing from disability advocacy groups and local councils.
