Melrose Park has shifted from an industrial precinct to a residential hub, marking a key milestone with the launch of Melrose Central, a mixed-use commercial development.

Opened by NSW Minister for Planning and Public Spaces Paul Scully, the four-level, 30,000sqm complex serves as the commercial hub for the broader Melrose Park Urban Renewal Precinct.

Located at 33 Hope Street, the retail podium is projected to house about 100 retailers and service providers, supporting an estimated 1200 permanent jobs.

The centre is anchored by a 4000sqm Coles supermarket and features major tenants including Dan Murphy’s, TerryWhite Chemmart, Myhealth Medical Centre, World Gym, Iplay, and Koorong Books, alongside various food and beverage outlets.

Developed by Deicorp, the overall site master plan combines the retail podium with six residential towers ranging from six to 24 storeys, adding 494 apartments to the area.

Deicorp CEO Fouad Deiri indicated that the new complex aims to serve both residents and surrounding suburbs, including Ermington, Meadowbank, and West Ryde, reducing the need to travel to larger commercial hubs in Parramatta or Top Ryde.

The launch initiated an eight-day public event featuring free entertainment, promotions, and community activities.
